Great Gadget: Milky Spore Applicator

Punch 15 holes in empty can
and 2 pairs of holes along the seam
I couldn't bear to actually buy a milky spore applicator, so I made one from an empty can, a stick, and zip ties.

Punch 15 holes in the bottom of an empty can, and two pairs of holes across the seam near the top and bottom for the zip ties.

Punch the holes flat from the inside to avoid wear on the zip ties and blocking the holes.

Can is zip-tied to a stick
6" from the ground end
Thread zip ties through the holes so that the ends are on the outside of the can.

Fasten the ties tightly around the stick, leaving 6" of stick below the bottom of the can.

Correction:  My father-in-law suggests putting tack or a nail below the zip ties so they won't slip.

Fill with milky spore and you're ready!
To use, fill can with milky spore powder (use a mask--follow safety directions on the package.)  Create a 4' grid by tapping the applicator gently on the ground wherever you want to inoculate.  You should see powder on the ground.

It's lightweight and worked well for me.  I hope you find it useful!
